Team History

In 1997, Oscar J. Boldt Company and Appleton North High School started a FIRST robotics team – team 107, with a robot named THOR. Today, this team is known as team FIRST Robotics Team 93, the NEW Apple Corps. Since then, the team has grown to include a number of local sponsors (most noteably Plexus Corp. and the Appleton Area School District) and students from four Appleton high schools – North, East, West, and Tesla Engineering Charter School.

From 1997-2001, the motto of Team 93 was “Bad to the Core”. Later the motto was changed to , “Student conceived. Student achieved!” After that it was “Simplify.” Today the motto is “Simul possumus, Simul volumus.”  (Which in latin means, “Together we can, Together we will.”) reflecting the teams desire to find success through co-operation.

We are based at Appleton East High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. We started off with a handful of engineers from Boldt and professors from a local university. The following year Plexus joined as our main sponsor and has been with us ever since. These past 17 years we have had 60 plus mentors volunteer at least one year from Plexus. This year we have 21 mentors from 7 different organizations. We have 60 students this year on our team. We have a great deal of experience. We are very excited for this year’s problem and we feel confident we are up to the challenge!

    Hello,
    Hello,
I am a graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School (mid 80′s) and now teach in Michigan. Our team 2959 just ended a great Michigan Season 98% Autonomous, 85% Teleop and an average of 55 points scored per match. We are located in Lower Michigan just above South Bend IN on Lake Michigan.
We also are a group of 6 high schools from the area. Looking Forward to talking with you in Saint Louis. PS This has usually been a good place for Packer fans!!
